A Post Halloween Mask, You Say?Nov 01, 2013
The day after Halloween is a day when your skin is very likely feeling abused from all that extra make-up you decided to pile on your face in pursuit of the best costume prize last night. Even if you won (or not,) your skin is probably not thanking you right about now…
Whether your complexion is naturally acne prone, dry or oily, we have a really great suggestion for calming that post-Halloween mug of yours. And this isn’t just a cheesie product placement plug, we promise. This is a real deal beauty secret that won’t break the bank, and it will leave your skin so clean and refreshed that you’ll be wondering why we haven’t told you about this little gem before.
For about $6.00 at any health or vitamin store (or Amazon.com), you can pick up a 1lb container of Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. (The name is kind of corny, but this deep-pore cleansing clay is AH MAZE ING.) It’s 100 % calcium bentonite clay and it’s safe and gentle for all skin-types. And yes, men can use it too!
This powdered substance can be used for facials, body wraps, clay baths, foot soaks, insect bites and more. All you will need for a spa quality facial mask is the following:
In a non-metal bowl (we use small glass bowls), mix- equal parts of the powdered clay with water, or better yet, with equal parts apple cider vinegar. (The vinegar will really help rev up circulation in the face.) Stir the mixture until you have a nice creamy paste. You can add more clay or liquid as needed to make nice thick creamy consistency.
Have an old towel handy. Apply 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick of the paste to your face (avoiding eyes of course), and let it dry for about 15 minutes. After it is about 98% dry, remove the clay with warm water, thoroughly rinsing. Your skin may look a tad flushed at first, but within 20 minutes you will be looking at a truly radiant face free of impurities. TIP: After you’ve washed off the clay with warm water, splash cold water onto your face to close the pores. Follow up with a light sweep of toner and a light moisturizer.
If ever there was a holy grail of home facials, we swear this is it. We’d love to hear back from those of you who try it. Oh?. and don’t forget to shine on you crazy diamonds!
Love you, mean it,
